Tatami buro and the privately rentable outdoor bath are of free-flowing hot spring water of Ogama source. The name, ‘Ogama’, came from the old times when people used this hot spring to ret flax plants and remove their stalks to make linen.
The hot spring water of the outdoor bath with a view is of free-flowing source spring water of ‘Shinyu’ that has been called ‘the best spring water of Japan’ among 30 sources of hot springs that exist in Nozawa Onsen. As the color of the spring water changes from milky white, to emerald green or clear colorless water depending on the weather conditions daily, it is also called as ‘five colored spring water’. It is a typical hot spring with sinters floating. The type of spring water is pure sulfur water and warming in it is said to be effective on illnesses.
